Europe Travel Update
14 year old traveling alone?

heeeeeey :)

i know that i’ve posted a similar question to this before, but i have updates and would like to know your opinions!

so, i’m hoping to travel to the states, where i used to live, to visit my old friends! i’m mature enough to travel alone and have traveled with my school many times so i know how to be responsible for my belongings at an airport. i would be flying from europe as an unaccompanied minor so someone would be there helping me the whole way. ii have contacted my friends there and know who i would be staying with. (my parents like the person and their family so thats good!) i have money saved up (about 400$) to go towards the trip.

if you were a parent, would you let your child take such a trip?
let me know! and if your answer is no, please specify why, so that i can address these issues to increase my chances of going!

thanks so so much :) 10 points for best answer and thumbs up for all answers

If I were a parent, I would let you go on the trip, as long, as long as I knew where you were staying, what your contact details were, how much money, and I would make you text/phone at every possible spare moment so I knew where you were and how it was going.
Also as long as you had someone waiting for you at the airport on the other side, and had someone accompanying you along the way. Also if the people you were staying with have met your parents and can be relied upon for your safety.

Firstly as long as you had someone waiting for you at the other side, so you wouldn’t be hanging around alone in a foreign airport. If you take loads of money (which you have) and you have like £50 credit on your phone, so you can text/call your parents.

Secondly, you need to go places while your younger and have the energy/health to do it. When your older you don’t have the time or the energy. At least you can say you have been somewhere.

Thirdly if your parents think your mature you have a lot more chances of going because they know your not going to muck about and get lost.

Your parents would be mostly worried about your safety, and want you back in one piece, so make sure you get some insurance, medical care, and all the legal forms filled out so you don’t get in trouble whilst your abroad as it can get complicated. Also because 14 is pretty young you will want written permission, it may help if your parents saw you onto the plane so they dont worry that you might of missed your flight and stuff.

Where there’s a will there’s a way, im sure it will work out for you.
