I just got the paper work for my passport today and want to go in the next 6 months. I only want to spend about 2 thousand dollars. any travel suggestions?

Thank you.

It’s hard to go wrong no matter what you choose here or when you choose to come. There are a huge number of things to see and do. How much time do you have and what are you interested in? Since this is your first trip, you might consider someplace like the Netherlands for several reasons. It’s often one of the cheaper places to fly into from the US and you generally won’t need to make a connection in Europe to get there, so the travel times are less. It’s also VERY tourist friendly. Generally, you won’t have a problem getting around in Europe with English – especially in the Netherlands. It’s very easy to use the transportation system and get a feel for how to get around when you’re traveling. There are a lot of interesting places for day trips on your own using the trains and a lot of organized day tours available. There are lots of museums, beaches, cultural events, …

When I first started traveling, I was going on short trips of 4 to 5 days from the east coast of the US, and minimizing travel times was important. Places like Amsterdam, Reykjavik, London, Dublin, and Paris were great for that. There are many more direct flights now. I’ve been living in Italy for the past ten years and still go out exploring on weekends and holidays.
